Designing any website well is very important. However, designing a good gambling website is even more so because there are so many out there. You will need something extremely eye catching.

A good starting point is to take a look at the other gambling websites such as real money poker sites. There are a lot of them but take a look at quite a few. Take note of some of the main features such as colour, font, layout and what stands out when you glance at the page. A good balance of these features will be found in the most popular texas holdem poker sites.

The home page will be the most important, once a visitor clicks through from the homepage they will be in the site and hopefully interested. All pages are likely to be the same format and style as the home page anyway and so even if they enter the site not through the home page, the colour, layout and font is likely to be the same anyway.

Of course, you may decide that the design should vary throughout but this is not only extremely difficult when setting up a website, if not impossible, it will also cause the people using it to get confused and they may even think that they have left the original website.

Once you have looked at the other gambling websites, it is likely that you will see some patterns. What you have to decide is whether you want your website to fit that pattern or to be different. Having something familiar may help people feel comfortable on the site, but also it may make them feel a bit bored or that this site is nothing new. You, therefore, need to make a decision as to what sort of person you want to encourage on to the site. What are your aims form the site, who is your target market and what is your unique selling point. If your aim is to be different somehow and to stand out as different then you will need to look different as well. But if you want to just try to take customers who already play poker on other sites, then being similar to them could help, as things will be more familiar for them and they will quickly get used to using the site.

These decisions will help you to choose the layout, colour and font. However, it is important to not be too similar to other sites, if you decide to do a traditional design. Other sites may not like you being almost the same as them, so take a combination of features from them all and mix them about a bit and then will still have something familiar to customers but you will not be specifically copying any one site.

Generally the design should reflect the nature of the website. Something that induced adrenaline could be good as that is what playing the game will do. It should also be simple to demonstrate that the site is simple to use. Make sure that the colours work together well and are not too tiring on the eyes.

Once you have put a design together, ask a few people to look at it. See what they think of it. As poker players and non-players because you will be wanting to attract not only people who already play online poker, but ones who have not too. Do not be too precious about your design, except the criticism as it is very valuable. If more than one of them mentions something then you will know that it is a factor you need to consider.
